Retired Superintendent Dr. Bruce Hegwer endorses Paul Ballenger

I confidently recommend Paul Ballenger for the position of Board Member on the Denver Public School Board.  As a former school district Superintendent, I spent innumerable hours working with countless board members.  My years of experience as Superintendent gives me particular insight in what it takes to be a high functioning and highly effective Board Member.

I find Paul to have a laser focus and commitment to making decisions based on the what’s in the best educational interest of students.  Mr. Ballenger’s priorities center on student safety, improving academic success of students, improved communications with all stakeholders and Board and Superintendent accountability.  I can testify that Paul will work diligently to ensure those priorities drive his actions as a Board Member.

Paul has the type of experience that makes him unique among other candidates.  He is the single father of a special needs student and has demonstrated his commitment to serving others by his service as a Marine, an EMT, a fire fighter and as an Army National Guard Public Affairs Officer.  An added asset he brings to the position is his vast experience in the security industry.   His experience is just what is needed on the Denver School Board.

Foremost among Mr. Ballenger’s qualities is his ability to listen and communicate with others.  He genuinely values getting input from others.  Including students, parents, teachers and administrators is important to Paul and is a cornerstone of his candidacy and service.

If you want to see an honest and highly capable person serve on the Denver Public Schools Board, join me in supporting Paul Ballenger for Board Member.

Dr. Bruce Hegwer, Ed.D.

Superintendent, Retired.
